Gain Laundry Detergent - Assignment Example A true market segment has the same response to market stimulus and is reachable by market intervention. Market segmentation is necessary for any product to sell. However, it is necessary for a company to use unique bases of segmentation to make sure that its product sells well. Among the different bases that will be employed to segment a market, include geographical which is to be based on states, nations, and cities among others. Using this type of segmentation, the largest distribution store will be placed on a region with highest level of consumption of Gain Laundry detergent. Demographic segmentation is another type of market segmentation that will be based on age, gender, family size and income. Areas with high-income earners will receive special attention during distribution where the distributors will even be asked to deliver products at doorsteps of consumers (Porter, 1998). The other type of market segmentation is psychographic segmentation that is to be based on social class, lifestyles of people and personality characteristics. Gain Laundry detergent will be supplied to high social class individuals at special prices and this will be done using special designated cars. These cars will be known even to the clients being supplied to so as to close the loop of misconduct from suppliers as well as developing rapport on the consumers. Compare and contrast the ways Essay Example for Free

Compare and contrast the ways Essay Stanhope and Raleigh are absolutely different characters. Stanhope is experienced and confident and Raleigh is naive and doesn’t have such a long experience in army that Stanhope has. But also you can find something similar in stories of their lives. Their childhood, which they spent together. They went to the same school and their families were friends long time ago. At the beginning of the play Capitan Stanhope is presented as a brilliant commander and at the same way as an alcoholic. This quotation ‘drinking like a fish’, means that Stanhope cannot live without alcohol just, as a fish cannot survive without water. It shows literally that he will die without alcohol. This one â€Å"Without being doped with whiskey I’d go mad with fright† shows that has to be dunk to get through the war without the fear. Also Hardy said that he’s called a ‘drunkard’. That also means that he is ‘in love’ with alcohol. But while Hardy jokes, Osborne defends Stanhope and describes him as ‘the best company commander we’ve ever got’. Moreover, from Osborne we found out that straight after school Stanhope joined the army and became an amazing commander. Also, one of the officers said that he is ‘a splendid chap’. It shows that Stanhope has man’s qualities. We also pick up a few more details about the character of Stanhope from Osborne he has never rested, his nerves ‘have got battered to bits’. This shows us the nature of Stanhope. Second lieutenant Raleigh has a complete opposite character than Stanhope. The difference between them is just in three years, but Raleigh looks much younger than Stanhope. This is because the war ages Stanhope. Raleigh looks like a ‘healthy-looking boy of about eighteen†. He is entering the war for the first time. He has ‘a nervous laugh’ and there are some dashes in his speech that creates broken speech, which highlights how overwhelmed he is  with his emotions, and it is a bad quality for an officer. ‘His uniform is very new’ this quotation shows that he is a new and without any army experience. He imaged the war and trenches very different ‘†I thought there would be an awful row here- all the time. † But Raleigh is very idealistic, viewing the war as a romantic possibility to become a hero. He thinks that the war would make him famous and people will be proud of him as a hero of their country. Raleigh also idolises Stanhope, having looked up to him since he was a child and refers to him as ‘Dennis’. Also ‘their fathers were good friends and  Stanhope used to come and stay with them in the holidays’. He admits that he requested to be sent to Stanhopes company. Osborne hints to him that Stanhope will not be the same person he knew from school as the experiences of war have changed him. But Raleigh does not seem to understand and he is looking forward to see his old ‘friend’ again. So from all my points we can see that Stanhope and Raleigh are completely different characters and do not have any similarities in their lives. But maybe later, in the play Raleigh will have some new war experience and it will be something similar in their characters.

Evaluating Nutrition Information on the Internet

Evaluating Nutrition Information on the Internet Critiquing Instructions Found on the Web: Choose one nutrition-related website from the list under Website A and one nutrition-related website from the Website B list (see page 3). Evaluate each of these sites by completing the chart below.   Website A Website B Complete URL address http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/021313p38.shtml http://www.weightloss.com/WeightLoss/index.html Title of website Today’s Dietitian Weightloss.com What is the source of the website? Who is responsible for the site (.gov, .edu, .com, .net)? Great Valley Publishing Company, Inc. It is a .com Genentech USA, inc It is also a .com Comment on the sites authority – what are the author’s credentials? Aglaà ©e Jacob, MS, RD is a freelance writer who specializes in diabetes education and digestive health, and is currently studying naturopathic medicine in Toronto. The website does not state who the author is. Genentech describes their work as, they â€Å"use human genetic information to discover, develop, manufacture and commercialize medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions.† How current is the website? Provide the publication or copyright date. The websites copyright date is 2014 The articles issue date is Feb 2013 The websites copyright date is 2014 What is the websites main purpose: commercial (to sell), informational, educational, persuasive, entertainment or a hoax? I would put it in more of an informative/persuasive website with a little bit of a commercial undertone. Even though it doesn’t have third party advertisements to sell you products it is still trying to promote the sales of the magazine. Todays Dietitianis a magazine for nutrition professionals to inform them about changes in the nutrition world. To help an individual lose weight. I would put it in more of an educational/persuasive/commercial website. Even though it doesn’t have third party advertisements to sell you products it is still trying to promote its own weight loss medication. It isn’t entertaining or a hoax. The first 5 tabs the website is just trying to help a person start the process of losing weight. It gives you step by step directions on how to talk to your doctor about losing weight; it teaches you how to read a food label. It even quizzes you about fat facts. On the very last tab â€Å"helpful tools† it does tell you to talk to your doctor about their weight loss medication Xenical. Are there advertisements? Is the site selling any products? If so, what is it? There are no outside advertisements but the website does promote its own subscription. No products are being actually sold on the weightloss.com website but it does suggest that you talk to your doctor about their weight loss medication. Interestingly enough if you go to the parent company’s website and look under â€Å"product information† the weight loss medication isn’t listed. Only under the â€Å"for patients† â€Å"our medication† tab does it show Xenical as a product they manufacture. Summarize the main point(s) of the website. The main point of this article is that there is a possible connection between autoimmune diseases and the over absorption of incompletely digested protein and antigens in the intestinal lining. The first tab is how to talk to your doctor. The second tab is all about eating healthy and how to do so. The third tab is about exercise how to create a plan and get started. The fourth tab is to be positive and how to stay positive. The fifth tab â€Å"helpful tools† has the sales pitch for Xenical. Who is the target audience? Registered dietitians, athletes, medical doctors, moms, students, etc. Clinical dietitians, consultant dietitians, clinical nutrition counselors, foodservice managers, certified diabetes educators, primary health coaches, and pharmaceutical professionals. Also distributed to hospitals, educational facilities, nursing homes, government agencies, food companies, and correctional facilities. Overweight individuals. Comment on the overall visual appearance of the website. (Is there any pictures or illustrations?) The webpage is bright and colorful. On the top it has a bright green color with images of droplets of water and a ghost image of a fern leaf, to me making it look fresh. In the actual article we see the magazine’s cover of the issue when the article was published. It’s a very boring website in the way of appearance. The actual interactive portion of the website doesn’t even take up a whole page. There are total of 4 pictures of happy â€Å"normal healthy† people and they change when you go through the different tabs. Comment on the writing style. Is there any persuasion? What kind of language is used? Is it poorly written? Provide an example. It is very informative and detailed. There is a scientific base with the studies and theories. At one point it does go into more of a persuasive article when it states that â€Å"according to the theory† â€Å"Once gluten is removed from the diet, serum zonulin levels decrease, the intestine resumes its baseline barrier function, the autoantibody titers are normalized, the autoimmune process shuts off and, consequently, the intestinal damage heals completely.† As that is someone’s opinion and not a fact, as of yet. It’s an easy to read website, no big words. It explains each somewhat technical word so anyone can understand. It does put a lot of emphasis on getting the information from your doctor. It is definitely pushing you to go to your doctor’s office to work up your weight loss plan and goals. â€Å"When it comes to your weight and your health, your doctor is there to advise you that losing excess weight should be an important priority. So talk to your doctor. Together you can find ways to manage your weight successfully.† Are there links to other reliable sites such as a bibliography and /or references? If so, how many references are listed? Yes there are references. There are a total of 5 references. No references, but under the â€Å"nutritional guidelines† tab they do mention that they got the information form 6 reputable websites. Here is a set of common dietary guidelines offered by six national health organizations* *The American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the American Dietetic Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Institutes of Health, and the American Society for Clinical Nutrition Summarize: Comment on the overall differences you observed between the two websites. Would you utilize either of the site’s nutrition information personally or recommend it to another person? Explain using at least one specific example from each site. Refer to Table C1-3 in the textbook . The overall differences that jump out to me is that the webpage â€Å"Today’s Dietitian† seems more put together and I feel that someone has actually put effort into it so people will take it seriously. It looks more professional, it has better colors, it’s brighter, and way more open about who is responsible for it. I would recommend the website Today’s Dietitian because it is the more reputable of the 2 websites. â€Å"Weightloss.com† does seem like it has correct information and great recipes for a low-fat diet, but it just doesn’t have the references and sources to back up its information, whereas, â€Å"Today’s Dietitian† shows where and how it got its information at the end of the article. Plus â€Å"Weightloss.com† puts a lot of the information onto your doctor, it pushes you too see your doctor because that’s the only way to get their medication is by prescription. Essay --

Introduction (Background) It has been noticed that increasingly growing number of International students and employees within UK have brought varieties into the food market where people can have more options when consuming food. Additionally, young adults nowadays are more aware of eating healthily especially when they barely have spare time to cook for themselves and they would go for comparatively healthier options. We therefore considered start up a new business launching rice food products with the positioning concept of â€Å"fast food have never been this healthy† to catch up with the trend in today’s food market after research regarding the fast food restaurant market in Newcastle City Centre area where less healthy and premium-priced fast food are abundant and we found a gap in the medium to low priced and more healthy section if we refer to the marketing map (appendix 1). Idea generation and screening According to Kotler (2010), ‘a new product development begins with idea generation-the systematic search for new product ideas’. The new business ideas are generated mainly from two sources i.e. external and internal idea sources. The former contains ideas from customers, competitor, distributors, suppliers etc. whereas the latter involves the R&D activities within a firm. After we have determined to enter the fast food market and have conducted research regarding this market in Newcastle City Centre area as our starting point, we generated several ideas including brand name, product concept, and food ranges and options etc. in a brainstorming with the feedback from market research. In this process we took the trends within fast food market and lifestyle of young adults into account. I presume brainstorming serves as an appropr... ...nces among differing groups of individuals. Additionally, business world is rapidly changing every day, so is market condition, marketing environment, and consumer behaviour etc. Therefore new-product development process should be altered accordingly. For instance, more attention will be paid to the issues including virus marketing, social media, online marketing, corporate social responsibility and environmental and ethical issues etc. As a result, in the near future, this process will be more customer-oriented with more factors of importance being taken into account in both product development stage and marketing strategy planning and implementing. Furthermore, new techniques in regards of better quantifying a success of a product concept and marketing plan should be invented within the process to reduce the potential risk of failure when the product is launched.

Advantages of Democracy Essay

Democracy can provide for changes in government without violence. In a democracy, power can be transferred from one party to another by means of elections. The jurisdiction of the citizens of a nation determines its ruling authority. Moreover, any government is bound by an election term after which it has to compete against other parties to regain authority. This system prevents monopoly of the ruling authority. The ruling party has to make sure it works for its people for it cannot remain being the authority after completing its term unless re-elected by the people. This brings in a feeling of obligation towards the citizens. The ruling authorities owe their success in the elections to the citizens of the nation. This results in a feeling of gratefulness towards the people. It can serve as their motivation to work for the people for it is the common masses that have complete power over choosing their government. Another important advantage of democracy is that the people gain a sens e of participation in the process of choosing their government. They get the opportunity to voice their opinions by means of electoral votes. This gives rise to a feeling of belongingness in the minds of the people towards their society. Disadvantages of Democracy In a democratic nation, it is the citizens who hold the right to elect their representatives and their governing authorities. According to a common observation, not all the citizens are fully aware of the political scenario in their country. The common masses may not be aware of the political issues in society. This may result in people making the wrong choices during election. As the government is subject to change after every election term, the authorities may work with a short-term focus. As they have to face an election after the completion of each term, they may lose focus on working for the people and rather focus on winning elections. Another disadvantage of democracy is that mobs can influence people. Citizens may vote in favor of a party under the influence of the majority. Compelled or influenced by the philosophies of those around, a person may not voice his/her true opinion. Every form of government is bound to have some shortfalls. Different people have different views about the various political systems. Egypt The politics of Egypt is based on republicanism, with a semi-presidential system of government. Following the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, and the  resignation ofPresident Hosni Mubarak, executive power was assumed by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which dissolved the parliament and suspended the constitution. In 2014, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was elected as Egypt’s seventh President Egyptian parties like the Muslim Brotherhood may derive short-term benefits from the fall of regional dictatorships, much of the blame for their support can be ascribed to the authoritarianism of the last sixty years. Nasser and Sadat comes across as too sympathetic, while his assumption that the authoritarian political structure from 1952 onwards enabled Egypt’s leader to avoid a more hard-line foreign policy stance is dubious.

Birthcontrol 66 essays

Birthcontrol 66 essays Females have battled society for womens rights for centuries. Any right that women have wanted, they have had to fight for. There have been many great women who have dedicated their whole life to fight for a womens cause. Helen Hunt Jackson, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Margaret Sanger are all honorable women of history making great contributions. Women have overcome many struggles such as, the right to vote in elections, equal opportunity in the work force, and even the control over their own bodies. By this control I mean the right to decide when or when not to bring a child into this world. Until 1914, American women had not received any knowledge about the prevention of pregnancy, or even sex education. Many wives would stay pregnant throughout their entire life, having up to fifteen children or more. Health was also a major concern, womens bodies gradually got weaker after having so many children. In a time period when sex was not spoken or heard about, a woman pioneer, Margaret Sanger, jumped in and introduced the idea of birth control, and in 1921 she founded the American Birth Control League. Sangers quest began long before the public knew her. It started when she was just a young girl. A free thinker, and outspoken radical, her father, Michael Higgins, influenced his young daughter to act the same way; question everything and stand up for what she believed in. Sangers mother, Anna, bore ten children other than Margaret, causing her to be both constantly pregnant and constantly sick, leaving little time for her children. She died at an early age to tuberculosis, which Sanger attributed to her multiple pregnancies. It was after this that Sanger decided to start helping pregnant women. She worked as a nurse in New York and became all too familiar with some horrible sights. She saw many women die of very preventable deaths due to child labor and horrible methods...
